Appearance: Cat is constantly changing, depending on his own mood and what the other wants to see; pinks and purples, grays and charcoals, bistre et chocolat, all and the same to him. Skin and bones or fat and well-fed, well, decisions, decisions. Only his face stays the same--harvest moon eyes and crescent moon smile. Sometimes a little bloody, sometimes still fancy-free, but always mad because we're all mad here. Of late though, Alice grew up and so too did Wonderland, and Cat is Wonderland--future's black, can't go back. Often now he's skin and bones, mangy gray fur etched with dark designs, a jaunty gold hoop in a tattered flap of ear, a grisly smile hanging alone in the darkness, blood in his teeth.

Personality: Nonsensical, for the most part. Alice has won, the battle is done, but Cat can't go back to what he once was, not so easily. Just like his moods, he will shift--easily distracted and well-natured one moment, curious as a... well... cat, and cats go everywhere whether they are wanted or no. He has an answer for everything but not always the answer you're looking for. You can call him strange, you can call him silly, 'til one day you might even think to try this kitty's patience... but he has claws, and not even the insane ever dared chance them. Then, he is lucid, his riddles are a haven of sense; good, bad, any at all. Quite the vicious streak he can have, and a nasty temper to go along with it. Still... now and again, Cat wonders if he exists, here in the Outside, Through the Looking Glass. Really, do you think he does? Cat wants to know.

Abilities/Strengths: Cat can disappear. One moment here, one moment there, one moment gone, gone, gone. The rules of physics don't apply to dreams, and Cat is like most cats and more... he can go forwards, backwards, slantwards, upwards, walk the ceiling beams and dance on his head. He can change, according to his mood--pink and purple, black and gray? Sense is for the sane and Cat can't be bothered. Cat knows how to guess. It's a little like knowing, a little like seeing, a little like reading a book with the letters all shook up. But he can know things, things he's not supposed to. But cats love secrets, and he'll keep his and he'll keep yours too, maybe even from you.

Weaknesses: Cat can be killed. He runs if he can, he'll fight if he must, but he has Alice to help, and Alice to guide and her knife she uses as good as his claws. As weaknesses go, Alice is his only--he is not often caught off-guard. Wonderland needs her, and Cat needs her most of all. Without one to guide, he's a dream that goes undreamt... and then where would Cat be?

History: Once upon a time, a little girl fell down a Rabbit Hole and into her Wonderland, into her dreamed adventure. Wonderland was young then, and so was the Cheshire Cat. She climbed out, right back out into the real world and tossed the Red Queen aside like one in a pack of cards. But Alice grew up. The fire killed her parents, destroyed her house, left her mad, lying quiet in an asylum until Rabbit called: Help us, Alice!

Wonderland had grown too--twisted and dark as the nightmares that came where once there'd been dreams. Dark days, then. And they had needed her to make things better. Had she?

Cat thinks so. Wonderland is bright again, the darkness is gone and he lives again, smiling, smiling, smiling... but back to the way it was? Maybe not. Cat still looks like he has, dark as the world she made. And Alice never came back.

But cats go where they will, and so do dreams. If Alice is here, out here in the real world, all the better, she can pick up the pieces and glue them back together again, all done, good as new, hail Alice, hail Wonderland. Cat followed her, you know. Crossed the Queen's croquet ground and passed through the looking glass.

But no Alice. Not yet. No Alice here so Cat is stuck in a dull, dirty, outside world, and he doesn't necessarily like it. Cats are freedom and cats go as they please. No Rabbit here, run, run, too late, too late, no Caterpillar to whisper words and talk toadstools and blow smoke rings to take me away, away, away. Alice will come, Alice will always come because Cat is calling and Cat is Wonderland and Alice will always answer Wonderland.
